Gray/Grey Challenge now open for submissions!

I wish we didn't have gray/grey* following directly on the metallics, but we are out of other colours! The colour challenge will wrap up in July with a two week extravaganza of multi-coloured shoes. While I am sure I could happily fill an entire month with rainbow and pattern shoes, coding that poll would be a nightmare so two weeks is the limit. ;)

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've really enjoyed the colour challenge. I think challenges are a great way to encourage group participation, and more participation from our members results in a greater variety of shoes for us to look at!

Right now the plan for this community is to go free-style for the remainder of July, and then I will start a new series of challenges in August. I have lots of ideas for future challenges including the fandom shoe challenge (screencaps of shoes worn by your favourite tv and film characters), the crack!shoe challenge (shoes designed by people who are obviously on crack!), and the show us your shoes challenge (for sharing the shoes that we actually own and wear)... I intend to put up a community feedback post for other suggestions sometime before the end of July, but comments are also welcome here and now if anyone has any immediate feedback on how this community has been going thus far.

I think it will make a nice change. Waaaay back when this community first started people (well, maybe it was just me) used to post about the actual shoes on their feet. I miss that a little.

Oh gre/ay! That's kind of my color. Well along with black. And blue once in a while. I'm not at all colorful in person :)

I like the challengers, it gives a little focus to my shoe gazing.

I like the challenges too, but I don't want them to accidentally suppress other posts that people might want to make. I know from my experience on other comms that it can feel really weird and obtrusive to post something off-topic in the middle of a challenge.
