In my crack folder I have another pair of shoes that were designed so that toes seem to be morphing out of them, but I'm not sure I can bear to look at that sort of thing twice. Eeeew!
Because I kind of love it. It's a creepy shoe, all right.
it's a horror shoe, to me. one that has something to say about some of the skeevy stuff about high heels and women's bodies as sexual objects that gives me this glorious jolt of *disquiet* and getting that off a shoe, I kind of want a pair. because they're art, in the "I don't know what art is but I can point at it" context.
Ah, now I understand you. Thanks for expanding on this as I wasn't sure how to interpret your first comment. "Horror shoe" is the perfect description for it, and you're absolutely right about the jolt of disquiet. I definitely felt something like that mixed up with revulsion. If anyone had pushed I probably would have tried to describe it in terms of the uncanny.
