But here's a question for the crowd. I've noticed a trend this year in shoes. Most women's shoes have some kind of platform going on. I saw a new pair on a coworker today. Looked brand new. They were some of the most basic, black leather pumps you could find. But they had a definable platform to them.

If you look at the last two posts I made, both had some kind of platform as well.

Where do you fall on this trend?

Platforms: love 'em. I will wear my Sam Edelman Zoë booties to shreds. It's nice to be tall for once? And they're less wobbly/uncomfortable than high heels. Also they look hot.

(If I recall, they're, cough, "inspired" by a Balenciaga shoe from a couple seasons back.)

I only have the one pair of platforms, and I've already tripped in them once (first day I wore them, of course, scuffed the toe, OF COURSE), so I guess my preferred platform height is "not much higher than this or I will fall over". *g*

I...really hate it... Lol. That's about as coherent as I can get. But I'm not too happy with a lot of what's going on in fashion for Spring.

I don't... object to platforms—I remember wishing wistfully that I could afford some back in the '70s—although I don't think they're particularly attractive. What scares me a bit is the incredible height heels seem to have reached these days. I'll be looking at celebrity feet on Go Fug Yourself and wondering how they can manage to stand in those things, let alone walk. I do think that for those of us humbler mortals who do not get chauffeured to places, it is useful to have shoes a person can make speed in, should it be necessary. And not end the night in agony from, either. But then, I live most of my life in trainers and a medium, preferably fairly solid heel, is my personal limit.

I'm 5'9" barefoot, add a platform and a heel and I'm towering over almost everyone. XD

Most of the time I enjoy it, it all depends on how often I say (or wish to say) "my eyes are up here". ;)

Also, chairs and toilets are often very, very low when wearing heels, platforms just make it worse.
