I wonder what size they are. Fairly tiny, I should think.

It's hard to say. If the shoes are all fabric, then they have probably shrunk a bit since 1840. When I saw Isaac Brock's coat at the Canadian War Museum and it was practically doll size.

And Queen Victoria was 4'11" at that time, so if they shrank - they'd look like doll shoes, indeed.

I wish! It was such a stroke of luck finding this picture. I think in the future I will try to dig up more famous historic shoes for this comm.
